About
the Top100
The
Top 100 is New Zealand's premier international wine competition.
Liquorland
started it back in 1994 with one simple aim: to find the finest
wines
in the land. The event has grown in size and reputation ever since.
A team
of local and international wine judges taste over 1,400 entries to
award
the very best wines available in New Zealand. The Top 100 is
prestigious
for the winners, and has also become an invaluable guide for
wine
lovers.
2006
saw a record number of gold medals. The number awarded was 77 which
equates
to just over 5% of the total number of entries. Chief Judge Brent
Marris
comments "The overall quality was very high with some real highlights
such
as the 2006 vintage Sauvignon Blancs, Australian Shiraz and New Zealand
Syrah".
